Sermon Outline

1. Review--
2. Define Blameless
3. Define Husband of One Wife

Qualification of Blameless vs.2a

Doesn’t mean perfect but his imperfections shouldn’t be known. You have a right to hold your pastor to higher expectations.
Blameless means to grasp, “to stand by” a pastor should grasp or stand by the teachings of the scripture. (Never should the moto of a pastor be “Do as I say do not as I do.” It should be, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” A pastor should be the example of one who lives the word of God. You may not remember the sermons he verbally preach but you will remember the sermons he lives. James 3:1 “My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.”
Blameless means with consistency---The minister’s life must be a walk of consistency
Blameless means Completely---The minister’s life must wholly “whole” every aspect of his life must be based upon the word of God.

Qualification of Husband of One Wife vs.2b

Husband means that a pastor should be a man---The entire context of scripture shows that the position of a pastor has always been that of leadership or authority. This is based upon Genesis 3:16 “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”
Suggest that he should be “Married”
Have Only One wife. —One woman’s man—Polygamy is the practice of having more than one wife at a time. —show on VICE where this man had over 14 wives. This was an unacceptable life style for a pastor.
This qualification was about:
Faithfulness---Commitment to love
Self-control—ability to control his sexuality
Example of Christ Love for his “ONE” wife the church—Christ has only one wife, the church.
